DIRECTORS

Colin Sweet

Colin Sweet
Managing Director

Colin studied Building Services Engineering at South Thames College whilst working in the Industry with Retail Environments Ltd. He gained further experience in Project Management with Denver Refrigeration before joining York International's Sales Team in 1978 as a Systems Sales Engineer. Colin left York to become the Sales Manager of AAS Ltd, distributing the Airedale range of close control air conditioning products, before he joined Richard Healey in 1987 to start H&C Contracts.

Julie Healey

Julie Healey
Director/Company Secretary

Julie Healey started her career doing secretarial work for several electrical and mechanical services contractors before joining H&C Contracts in 1987. She is now a director and looks after the bought ledger as well as other administrative duties.

Richard Healey

Richard Healey
Chairman & Director

Richard studied engineering at Manchester University before joining Trane in 1971. He spent 6 months in 1972 at the Trane headquarters in LaCrosse, Wisconsin before joining the London sales office. Here he spent several years in technical sales followed by project management. After gaining further experience with Alpha Aire Ltd, Richard and Colin Sweet started H&C Contracts in 1987.

Mark Winning

Mark Winning
Projects Director

Mark Winning joined H&C Contracts in 1987 as a trainee draughtsman. After studying for 6 years at college and achieving an ONC, HNC & HND in building services engineering he has moved on to become contracts manager and design engineer, specialising in the design of mechanical services installations for operating theatres, body scanner suites and ward blocks. Other qualifications include a CPD in 'Specialised ventilation in healthcare premises' and a BPEC certificate for unvented hot water storage systems. In August 2011 Mark was promoted to Head of Projects and again in 2014 to Projects Director with managerial responsibility for the whole project and design department.

Paul Jezzard

Paul Jezzard
Operations Manager

Paul began his career in 1987 with an engineering apprenticeship at Balfour Kilpatrick & studied at Croydon Technical College. He has over 25 years' experience of project engineering & management, on M & E contracts valued up to £100m. His experience encompasses design & build of heating, ventilation, chilled water systems, air conditioning, domestic services, drainage & controls. Prior to joining H & C Contracts, Paul has recently undertaken a range of projects with an emphasis on energy conservation; installations included CHP, district heating, air source heat pumps, water to water heat pumps, sea water harvesting, rainwater harvesting & solar hot water. Paul is SMSTS qualified & has been a CSCS Manager Grade card holder since the scheme began. Paul now manages our team of project managers.

Dawn Cook

Dawn Cook
Office Manager

Prior to joining H&C Contracts in May 2007, Dawn career spanned over 20 years, largely spent in a variety of administrative roles, including positions with the Ministry of Defence and the Yorkshire Police Authority. Since joining H&C, Dawn has become an invaluable and highly respected member of our team, providing administrative backup to the Directors and all Departments within the Company. In August 2011 Dawn was promoted to Office Manager with responsibility for administration within the Maintenance & Service Department.

Gavin Hale

Gavin Hale
Technical Sales Engineer

Gavin started his career in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry as an apprentice in 1987 before progressing to the role of service engineer working on a wide range of equipment, from a single split to industrial chillers. Gavin then transitioned into a design and sales role before specialising in ventilation and air handling utilising his onsite experience to offer practical solutions with a bias towards energy savings. Gavin has designed and sold into the palace of Westminster, Microsoft, AWE, IBM and many more prestigious customers.

Jenny Woods

Jenny Woods
Receptionist and Office Administrator

Jenny joined H&C Contracts Ltd in November 2016 as the Receptionist and Office Administrator. After graduating from Secretarial College Jenny's career started with a UK based Transport Company where she gained a wealth of experience and knowledge working for a Global Engineering Company within the Facilities Department.

Trevor Winchcombe

Trevor Winchcombe
Maintenance Manager

Following a four-year electrical/electronic degree course Trevor started his career with the Ministry of Defence (Atomic Weapons Research Establishment). He joined the HVAC industry as a project engineer/manager for BMS systems and progressed into Technical Facilities Management where he ran large multisite contracts in areas including Telecoms, Heathrow Airport and Retail.
Trevor joined H&C contracts in October 2018 to manage our growing maintenance department.

Malcolm Goldberg ACIOB

Malcolm Goldberg ACIOB
Health & Safety/Environmental Manager

Malcolm Goldberg emigrated from Zimbabwe to the UK in 2005. With a keen interest in project management he studied and successfully passed the two year Chartered institute of Building Site Managers Diploma and is now an associate member. He joined H&C Contracts in 2007 as a Contracts Administrator to maintain back office support to the sales and project teams. After qualifying he was promoted to Health & Safety Manager with the added responsibility of ensuring the company's compliance of all Health & Safety protocols, procedures and training. In 2014 Malcolm took on the additional role of Environmental Manager in line with the company's newly acquired ISO 1400 accreditation.

Stephen Armstrong

Stephen Armstrong
Project Support Manager

Steve Armstrong originally qualified as a heating plumbing and gas engineer before moving into project management. Steve joined H&C in 2003 and has been a valued member of our team since then.

Louise Thomas

Louise Thomas
Projects Administrator

Louise started work in the private industry and has a vast wealth of experience within the public sector, working both in the NHS and Local Authority. Prior to joining H&C Contracts Ltd in October 2015, Louise worked within Members Services at Portsmouth City Council, providing PA and secretarial support to the Local Councillors.
Louise joined H&C as receptionist but now provides in office support to the project management team.

Alan Cook

Alan Cook
Project & Service Engineer

Alan Cook qualified in 1989 as a Mechanical Engineer and served 22 years in HM Armed Forces. After retiring from the Army in 2010 Alan then trained and qualified in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning as well as 17th Edition Electrics. Alan joined H&C Contracts in December 2015 as Projects & Service Engineer and now handles small Data Centre works.

Paul Lewis

Paul Lewis
Project Manager

Paul started work in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry as an apprentice in 2001 then rapidly progressed to installation engineer working on a wide range of installations, from offices to supermarkets. Paul then transitioned into a service role working on air conditioning systems and chillers. In 2007 he progressed into project management roles, bringing a wide range of mechanical skills within the HVAC industry to bear in his work on projects up to £1 million.

Simon Joice

Simon Joice
Project Manager

Simon qualified as a Marine Engineer and served 22 years in HM Armed Forces. After retiring from the Navy Simon then trained and qualified within Building Services Engineering and subsequently was employed as a supervisor engineer with Balfour Beatty services. Having completed APMP and PRINCE 2 Simon moved across to the projects team and delivered various building and engineering projects including HVAC and High voltage systems. Simon also obtained NEBOSH Construction and NEBOSH Fire qualifications and holds SMSTS, 17th Edition and CSCS. After many successfully delivered projects from 500k to 16 million and for various clients including Crossrail and the BBC Simon joined H&C Contracts in April 2016 as Projects Manager with over 10 years Project Management experience.

James Oram

James Oram
Project Manager

Jamie started his career in the construction industry in 2007 as a pipefitter's mate, progressing to a pipefitter / plumber for a mechanical contractor in Southampton; working on data centres, hospitals, schools & residential projects for 5 years. Further progression led to an office based role in estimating & then project management; including an HND in Building Services Engineering. Moving to ARB Mechanical in 2014 as a Project Manager, Jamie gained further experience over the next 3 years, managing projects to the value of £1.2 million; prior to Joining H&C Contracts in 2017. Jamie is SMSTS Qualified and holds a CSCS Manager's grade card.

Luka Bennett

Project Manager

Luka gained a BEng Mechanical Engineering degree and an MSc Advanced Engineering Design degree at Plymouth University. Following this he joined H&C in February 2019 as a Projects Department assistant giving support to our Projects team.

Gary Beck

Gary Beck
Project Manager

Gary's early career started as a plumber gaining NVQ level 2 and since 2005 has worked in the commercial sector installing large mechanical systems in schools, universities, hospitals and military sites. Gary progressed to project management and in 2015 became a project manager working on hotels, office buildings and schools. Gary joined our project management team in February 2019.

DESIGN ENGINEERS

Liam Duffett

Liam Duffett
Design Engineer

Liam joined H&C Contracts Ltd in 2007 as a Trainee Project Manager. Since this date Liam has gained City & Guilds in AutoCad and also an HND in Building Services from London South Bank University. Liam is now responsible for HVAC and process cooling designs for specialist projects. Liam has also now been trained in BIM.

Chris Smith

Chris Smith
Design Engineer

Chris is an experienced HVAC Building Services Engineer who joined H&C Contracts in January 2002 having previously worked on a variety of small to medium sized commercial and industrial projects throughout the country. Chris is now a valued member of our CAD design team. Chris has also now been trained in BIM.

Juliusz Szczygiel

Juliusz Szczygiel
Design Engineer

Prior to joining H&C Contracts Ltd in July 2016, Juliusz spent nearly a decade working in commercial process plant design. Having studied engineering, geology, industrial design and IT, he has delivered small and medium-sized projects in South Africa, the Middle East, Gibraltar and the UK. He has a strong technical and engineering background and is a valued member of the design team.

Matthew Schubert

Matthew Schubert
CAD Draughtsman & BIM trainee

Matthew joined H&C in May 2017 as a junior CAD draughtsman. He started his career in contract administration where he progressed to a junior designer for a leading air handling manufacturer. Matthew took a career break to see the world, upon his return he joined a local mechanical contractor as well as undertaking a part time college course in mechanical engineering. He moved on to a larger M&E contractor with new challenges and a new college course in Building services design. Matthew is delighted in his new position at H&C Contracts.

Rob Limon

Rob Limon
Design Engineer

Robert gained an MSc in Building Services Design in 2001 from Southbank University and is skilled with AutoCAD, Hevacomp. He has led design teams on projects such as the Lagoons Hotel in Abu Dhabi and The Tat Mall in Tehran. More locally he has designed projects for Portsmouth Central Library and the Vanguard Centre – a school in Cosham - as well as prestigious office conversions to high value flats in London. Robert joined H&C's design team as a valuable addition in 2018.

Dawn Cook

Service Coordinator

Samantha Reading

Samantha Reading
Service Co-ordinator

Prior to joining H&C Contracts Ltd in October 2011, Samantha worked in an Administrative role for an Essential Oils Company. Samantha studied AVCE IT at college and has sound knowledge in IT and Administration. In April 2014 Samantha was promoted to Service Administrator, providing much needed support for the growing Maintenance and Service Department.

Rebecca Cresswell

Prior to joining H&C Contracts LTD in November 2015, Rebecca joins from a mainly Retail background, however with her qualification in Travel & Tourism her experience in Administration is strong and will prove to be an asset to the Company. Rebecca has joined the expanding Service & Maintenance Team to carry out support and Administration to both the Service Manager & Co-ordinators.
